The city from the 20th floor
I was visiting New York to see my son's first child. They were living on the 20th floor of a highrise, and I loved the view straight out into the heart of the city – looking down toward the streets below and up at the highrises as the snowflakes floated by.

My original ink drawing and vector rendering

From the ink drawing made there, I created the vector version. Then adapting it to an image for a painting, I cropped into part of it. With that I edited elements to be a full image filling a 20 x 24" area, instead of the original vignetted image. While I am drawn to vignette images, for smaller canvases I prefer to fill them entirely to have a more powerful piece.

This required quite a lot of editing and drawing to achieve a balance of shape, color and energy.
